Workaholic: Do Some Peoples Childhoods Set Them Up To Become A Workaholic?

The idea of being a workaholic often brings to mind a picture of an ambitious, driven person who is consumed with their career and is constantly looking for ways to further his or her success. While this could be true in some cases, it is not usually the only explanation for why someone might become a workaholic. For some, their childhood may also have played a role in setting them up to become a workaholic.

Those who struggle with workaholism might have been raised in a family where success and achievement were highly valued, and the idea of hard work was instilled in them at an early age. This could be because their parents were themselves workaholics, or because the family culture was focused on achieving academic, professional, and personal excellence. In these cases, the idea of hard work and dedication to career goals was reinforced from a young age, leading to the person eventually becoming a workaholic as an adult.
